Joe Harms
Chief Executive Officer

Joe Harms the CEO of Nexus Dental Systems, brings over two decades of expertise in sales, marketing, and business development within the dental and medical industries. His impressive track record includes significant revenue growth and team leadership roles at 3Disc Americas, Acteon North America, Danaher and CareStream Health. At 3Disc Americas, he helped  grow revenues upwards to $10 million in revenue in the first full year. At Acteon, he helped double imaging equipment revenue in 2 years. At CareStream Health, he oversaw a salesforce of over 100+ professionals, driving market share for 3D imaging from 8% to 56%. Joe holds a Master’s degree in Marketing and Administration from the University of New Mexico and a Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin State University. Known for his strategic vision, integrity, and ability to inspire teams, Joe is committed to expanding Nexus Dental Systems’ market presence and enhancing its product offerings.

Robert McQueen is the Chief Operations Officer at Nexus Dental Systems. With a multifaceted background in strategy, operations, and cross-cultural communication, Robert brings over 18 years of experience to this role. His career is marked by a series of high-impact roles and successful ventures, showcasing his exceptional skills in leadership, strategic planning, and complex problem-solving.
Robert’s professional journey began as a Special Operations Officer, where he demonstrated outstanding capabilities in coordinating multifaceted operations and leading cross-functional teams in high-stakes environments. His military career includes significant achievements such as leading the US response to disasters in Bosnia, coordinating multinational training programs, and engaging with senior diplomats to synchronize complex initiatives.
In the civilian sector, Robert has held several influential positions. As the Field Operations Director at Waves For Water, he provided vision, direction, training, and oversight to field operations across 44 countries. He was pivotal in building the Clean Water Corps from an idea into a fully functioning division, leading humanitarian missions in 21 different countries, and managing disaster relief initiatives worth over a million dollars. His efforts in expanding corporate social responsibility programs with partners like BMW, Tumi, Panerai, and Hurley demonstrate his proficiency in forging and nurturing strategic partnerships.
Robert’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to found Quiver, an impact analysis platform for non-profit organizations and corporate social responsibility initiatives. Under his leadership, Quiver developed a viable MVP and successfully integrated into the Salesforce marketplace, illustrating Robert’s ability to drive innovation and market penetration.
In his role as Executive Accounts Director at Tempest 22, Robert demonstrated his strategic acumen by advising companies on repositioning strategies and capital acquisition. His ability to identify unique investment opportunities and develop effective fundraising strategies has been a hallmark of his success, attracting significant investor interest and capital injections.
Robert has also been recognized for his leadership in academic and extracurricular activities. Beyond his professional endeavors, he is committed to mentoring young founders and officers and actively contributes to community initiatives.
With his diverse experience, strategic mindset, and proven leadership, Robert is well-equipped to drive Nexus Dental Systems’ growth and success. His appointment as Chief Operations Officer marks a significant step forward for the organization as it continues to innovate and expand its impact in the dental industry.

Chief Revenue Officer

Anthony J. Naranja, DDS, Chief Revenue Officer, Nexus Dental Systems, has more than 25 years of dedicated experience in the field of dentistry. As President of Serendequity Partners, he brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the dental industry. Throughout his career, he has navigated the intricate landscapes of solo practices, multi-office setups, and large-scale dental support organizations, gaining invaluable operational and clinical insights. He believes that his relentless focus on optimizing both the patient and practice experience can drive exceptional results for both. His commitment to continuous improvement and innovation has allowed him to stay at the forefront of the dental industry, helping dental practitioners and organizations alike reach new heights. 

Dr. Scott S. De Rossi
Chief Strategy Officer

Dr. Scott S. De Rossi, most recently the Founding Dean of the Workman School of Dental Medicine at High Point University and head of HPU Oral Health Network of clinical practices, is passionate about driving growth and innovation in healthcare strategy and medical-dental integration. He is the Senior Vice President of Innovation and Strategy at Serendequity Partners and Chief Strategy Officer of Nexus Dental Systems.  

He received his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1995 and completed his post-doctoral training in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in 1997. He achieved Diplomate status from the American Board of Oral Medicine in 1999. He served as Associate Dean for Admissions at the University of Pennsylvania before moving to Augusta University in 2007 where he was Professor of Oral Medicine, Director of the Clinical Center for Oral Medicine, and Chairman of Oral Health and Diagnostic Sciences at the Augusta University Dental College of Georgia where he also held joint faculty appointments in the Departments of Dermatology and Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his MBA from the Hull College of Business at Augusta University in 2016. He served as the 8th Dean of the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry while serving as faculty in the division of Oral & Craniofacial Health and the Department of Otolaryngology in the UNC School of Medicine. 

Dr. De Rossi is a co-author of the Burket’s Oral Medicine textbook, Editor of the July 2013 edition of Dental Clinics of North America on Orofacial Pain and has lectured and published over 100 scientific articles, textbook chapters, and monographs on all aspects of Oral Medicine including TMD and orofacial pain, oral oncology, dental sleep medicine, medically complex patients, salivary gland disorders and oral mucosal diseases. 

A creative, collaborative, and innovative leader in dental education, research and practice, Dr. De Rossi is the principal founder of DentAlliance – a global partnership of four international dental schools that launched in 2020, the 2011 recipient of the International Association of Dental Research Innovation in Oral Care Award, a 2012-13 Fellow in the ADEA Leadership Institute, recipient of numerous awards and honors for teaching and service, he is the Past President of the American Board of Dental Specialties, and serves as a Commissioner to the Commission on Dental Accreditation. 

His superpower is connecting people, ideas, and resources to advance health. He lives in Durham, NC and is happily married to Dr. Katharine N. Ciarrocca. They have two beautiful biological daughters – Sofia and Evangelia, and a chosen son – John.

As CMO at Nexus Dental Systems since 2021, I’m all about creating buzz-worthy dental tech marketing that actually converts. My team and I craft digital-first strategies that cut through the noise and connect with dental professionals in meaningful ways.

Before jumping into the Nexus world, I founded and was CEO at MedMark Media (1994-2025), where we flipped the script on dental marketing. We published five specialty magazines that became must-reads for Endodontists, Implant specialists, Orthodontists, Dental Sleep practitioners, Pediatric doctors, and other dental pros looking to stand out.

I’ve always been at the forefront of digital innovation – developing platforms that took our publications beyond the printed page, creating powerful channels for dental manufacturers to reach their target audience while providing dentists with valuable industry insights.

You might have caught me on my podcast, DocTalk Dental, where I’ve had amazing conversations with folks like Tony Robbins, Shaq, Dr. Oz, and Simon Sinek. These chats have shaped how I approach marketing at Nexus – authentic, value-driven, and always with the customer experience in mind.

After 20 years in the dental marketing space, I’m still obsessed with finding fresh ways to connect amazing dental products to dentists who need them. At Nexus, we’re not just marketing innovative dental billing tech – we’re building solutions and driving the future of dental care forward, saving one life at a time.

Ryan has been building software for over 17 years and has engineered many complex systems and platforms for a wide variety of industries. He has created APIs, mobile applications, IoT applications, and web applications of varying sizes for many industries. He is well-versed in full-stack development, database design & optimization, machine learning, artificial intelligence, internet-of-things, data mining, and systems integrations. He has technology patents and is a forward-thinking technology professional. As Chief Technology Officer of Nexus Dental Systems, Ryan will be creating our technology vision and ensuring industry-leading and innovative features and functionality.

Chris Farrugia,
DDS, DABSB
Chief Dental Officer

Dr. Chris P. Farrugia is a nationally recognized speaker, teacher, and leader in the subjects of digital dentistry, dental sleep medicine and medical billing by dental practices. Dr. Farrugia brings to Nexus a wealth of knowledge and experience gleaned from his professional journey through the clinical practice of dentistry. Medical insurance provides benefits for services provided by dentists including exams, radiographs, imaging, and a variety of surgical and non-surgical therapies. These services are routinely under- or uncompensated to dental practitioners. A nationally recognized expert in medical billing by dental practices and author of five books on the subject, Dr. Farrugia enjoys spreading the message of accessing medical benefits for services so that dentists can be properly compensated for what they know and do. He has spoken to and taught thousands of dentists nationwide who want to advance their practices through a marriage of  digital (CBCT) imaging, digital restorative dentistry, successful implementation of dental sleep medicine into their practice, and better compensation for services rendered via medical billing. After a decade of practicing Dental Sleep Medicine (DSM) and achieving Diplomate status with the American Board of Sleep and Breathing, Dr. Farrugia transitioned from general dentistry to the exclusive practice of TMD and DSM in 2018. When not travelling, speaking or teaching, Dr. Farrugia practices in northwest Florida.

Lee Surkin, MD
Chief Medical Officer

Lee A. Surkin, MD is triple board certified in sleep medicine, cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology and has over 22 years of practice experience. His undergraduate degree in biology was done at Brandeis University followed by a masters degree in human nutrition at Columbia University.

He graduated with his MD from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and did his internal medicine and cardiology training at Yale University.

Dr. Surkin has been in private practice in eastern NC where he founded a cardiology practice followed by a sleep medicine practice followed by a medical weight loss practice and merged all into a multi-specialty group that places a strong emphasis on wellness and prevention. Dr. Surkin also founded a sleep medicine practice in NY where he sees patient utilizing telemedicine.

Dr. Surkin was also one of the first sleep physicians in NC to offer home sleep apnea testing and has been on the cutting edge in offering new and innovative treatments across a broad spectrum of his areas of expertise.

He is a national leader in advancing the recognition of the strong association between sleep disorders and cardiovascular disease and founder of the American Academy of Cardiovascular Sleep Medicine.

Ren Kramer
VP of Nexus Dental Systems International
Growing up in Southern California, Ren Kramer was always surrounded by medical wisdom with surgeons as his grandfather, father, uncle, and aunt. Although Ren did not pursue medical school after attaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California, he did immediately engage in the business side of medicine. 
Ren’s first medical experience came with his patented shoulder sling which is still on the market today, the Kangaroo Sling by Manamed.  He worked closely with Manamed for 3 years on design of their medical devices as well as sales and marketing.
Ren joined the Nexus Dental Systems team in 2023 after recognizing their powerful mission to help the world with the treatment of sleep. With Ren’s previous experience with medical devices and insurance dynamics, he acclimated well and after a year with the sales side of the company, he has also been given the task of bringing forth the international expansion of Nexus Dental Systems.

John Poovey
Chief Clinical Officer

Dr. Poovey graduated from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine magna cum laude in 2001. He was voted by the administration as the number one clinical graduating student.

Dr. Poovey has been awarded diplomate with the International Congress in Oral Implantology, Mastership with the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics, and Fellowship with the International Academy for Facial Esthetics. He has been in practice in Grand Junction for 22 years.

Dr. Poovey has been chosen to be a key opinion leader for the Zest fixed solution, co-developer of a medical billing software system, and a national leader in medical necessity-based dentistry. He is the winner of the 2023 American Academy of Osseo Integration Innovation Award for a digital workflow system for fixed implant solutions.

Ross Ford is a communications professional with years of experience in advertising, branding and publishing. He brings years of experience in client services and creative problem solving cultivated over a career working with clients across a wide range of industries and sizes from startups to the Fortune 500. Working in the dental space since 2015, Ross was an integral part of the the companies that merged to become Nexus Dental Systems. A deep understanding of the customer experience keep him focused on the needs and challenges of the Nexus provider. He oversees the onboarding, education and training teams at Nexus.

Bryan brings a wealth of strategic, operational, and technical expertise to Nexus Dental Systems, with a distinguished track record of driving innovation and profitability in the dental industry and beyond.

At the practice level, Bryan has consistently delivered measurable results, including increasing regional dental practice profitability by over 40% and reducing overhead costs by more than 57% year-over-year. His development of standardized employee training, operational protocols, and performance review systems has directly contributed to revenue growth and operational efficiency.
At the enterprise level, Bryan was a founding team member at Sevāredent, where he helped grow the organization from concept to one of the largest entities in the dental industry within just three years. He managed over $225 million in annual expenditures, led strategic partnerships with 70+ key suppliers and customers, and was responsible for the majority of the company’s top and bottom-line revenue. His work in supplier consolidation, private label development, and contract optimization directly improved scalability, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Bryan is a data-driven strategist, having implemented advanced operational and scheduling methodologies to improve medical device utilization and practice performance. His ability to align technological solutions with business goals will be pivotal in advancing Nexus Dental Systems’ mission to deliver streamlined, tech-forward dental solutions.

Beyond dentistry, Bryan has driven impactful initiatives across healthcare, oil and gas, and small business sectors. From supporting global vaccine trials during COVID-19 to pioneering clean water strategies in oil and gas, to mentoring professional athletes through his own strength and conditioning business, Bryan’s leadership is defined by versatility, innovation, and a deep commitment to operational excellence.
As Director of Technology at Nexus Dental Systems, Bryan leverages this diverse experience to lead transformative initiatives that enhance performance, scalability, and technological advancement across the organization.

Kelley Watson
Director of Revenue Operations

I am the Director of Revenue Operations at Nexus Billing Systems, where I lead the strategic oversight of revenue cycle operations with a strong focus on aligning processes, systems, and teams to drive financial and operational excellence. With over 24 years of experience, I bring a deep understanding of the entire revenue cycle—from patient engagement to collections—with hands-on expertise in both high-level strategy and day-to-day execution.

In my current role, I oversee revenue operations functions including, but not limited to, revenue cycle reporting, credentialing, contracting, invoicing, coding, and auditing. I ensure that operational workflows are not only compliant and efficient but also fully integrated with the financial goals and performance metrics of the organization. My approach is rooted in problem-solving, process alignment, and continuous improvement.

I have led major system implementations, led large teams in a hospital system through the entire revenue cycle system for 9 yrs, optimized RCM workflows, and created data-driven solutions to improve outcomes. I am a proactive leader with a history of creating policies, training teams, and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

Pat Adair

Pat’s broad range of experiences, from his time in the US Army, along with two decades spent in a variety of operations, sales, and client service arenas, have given him valuable insight into the nuances of piloting complex, successful, “people-first” organizations.  Whether it’s external or internal, building bridges, to establish true symbiosis between multiple points, is where he finds the most satisfaction in his role.  When he boils it down, helping Nexus help you, help your patients, is his singular, passionate, responsibility.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and a Master’s in Educational Psychology, I bring over 30 years of operations leadership in the veterinary and dental industries. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of supporting the growth of more than 300 locations across nearly every state, combining strategic insight with a deep passion for people and progress.

Entrepreneurial at heart and relentlessly goal-driven, I specialize in building both businesses and the people behind them. Whether it’s developing infrastructure that empowers teams or meeting individuals exactly where they are, my mission is to help others become the best version of themselves.
I believe in the power of human connection, the value of thoughtful systems, and the impact of strong, supportive leadership. Outside of work, you’ll find me outdoors, pursuing fitness, and soaking up every moment with my four amazing kiddos—who are truly my greatest joy.

With over 20 years of dedicated experience in the medical field, Summer Terry specializes in denials management, prior authorization, eligibility verification, and medical billing. Throughout her career, she has consistently focused on educating herself and training teams to ensure the processing of clean claims. Her expertise spans a decade in denials management, where she has successfully resolved complex issues to maximize revenue and streamline operations. Combined with two decades of proficiency in prior authorization and eligibility processes, Summer brings a deep understanding of healthcare administration and compliance. Passionate about improving healthcare efficiency, she continues to stay on top of industry changes and best practices to deliver optimal outcomes for both providers and patients.

Mel Blount
Health & Wellness Spokesman

Mel Blount is a former Pittsburgh Steeler cornerback, a five-time Pro-Bowler and four-time Super Bowl Champion and a Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee. He is considered one of the best all-time cornerbacks, but his athletic accolades are not his entire legacy.

Over the years, Mel has seen many of his brothers suffer from sleep apnea and struggle with treatment. Once he realized the size of the problem, he knew he had to do something and he committed to raising awareness of the dangers of sleep apnea as National Spokesperson for DreamSleep.

Sara White
National Spokesperson

Sara White was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. It was while attending college in Tennessee that she met her husband, the late Reggie White. They were married twenty years prior to his death in 2004.

Since her husband’s death, Sara has been committed to raising awareness of the dangers of sleep apnea. She continues this mission as National Spokesperson for DreamSleep.

Earnest Byner
National Spokesperson

Nominated for the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame, Earnest Byner is a two-time Super Bowl Champion (Redskins 1991 and Ravens 2000) and two-time Pro Bowler (1990 and 1991). During his playing career, Byner earned a number of honors, including being named one of the 70 all-time greatest Redskins in 2002, induction into the Ravens Ring of Honor, the Ed Block Courage Award in 1986, the 1996 NFL Extra Effort Award, the NFLPA Unsung Hero Award in 1997 and the Ravens Man of the Year Award in 1997. After retiring as a player, Byner has served as Baltimore Ravens Director of Player Development, Running Backs Coach for the Washington Redskins, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Over the years, Earnest has seen the dangers of sleep apnea affecting his friends, family and fellow players. Since then, he has been committed to raising awareness of the dangers of sleep apnea as National Spokesperson for DreamSleep.

Anthony Griggs
National Spokesperson

Anthony Griggs played as a linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles (1982–1985) and Cleveland Browns (1986–1988). Prior to joining the NFL, he played college ball with Ohio State and Villanova.

Since retirement, he has been involved in raising awareness of the dangers of sleep apnea as National Spokesperson for DreamSleep.

Eddie Mason
National Spokesperson

Eight-year NFL veteran linebacker who played with the New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins. Voted Special Teams MVP in 1995 and recipient of the NFL Unsung Hero Award in 2001. Eddie is a certified trainer and Life Transition Coach for the NFL, helping retired NFL players transition back into everyday life after their careers. Eddie is the author of “Training for the Tough Game of Life”, the Co-Founder of GAME CHANGERS ACADEMY and Commissioner and Developer of i9 Sports. Eddie is also Prime Skills Linebacker U Head Coach.
